Oak Shade’s Mission and Aim

Mission Statement

We exist to love and know God, to equip His people to accomplish His mission for His Glory

Love

We desire to love God and to know Him fully.  Matt 22:37-38, Jerimiah 9:23-24, John 17:3

Teach

Our desire is to teach the word of God to develop mature believers in this generation and the next. Psalm 78:1-8, Col 2:6, 2 Tim 2:15, 2 Tim 3:16-17, Col 1:28

Reach

We desire to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, within our community and throughout the nations.  Matt 28:18-20, 1 Cor 1:18, Jerimiah 29:7

Our mission can be summed up in three simple words:

Loving Teaching Reaching

Loving

We love God. (Matt 22:37-38) Our greatest command is to love the Lord our God and we do so because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19, 1John 3:1) We love God by knowing God and magnifying His greatness in our lives.  One primary way we express our love for God is our weekly active worship, which is the reason for our existence.  We were created to glorify God. (Isiah 43:7)  In John Chapter 4 we are told God seeks worshipers to worship in spirit and truth.  Therefore we desire to magnify the greatness of God and His surpassing glory, in Christ by the Spirit.

We love God’s Word. We grow in our knowledge of God through His word.  The centrality of all we do is focused on God’s living Word.  We believe the Bible is the final authority on all matters of faith.

We love God’s Church.  God’s Church is nothing more than the people that God has called to Himself. (1 Peter 2:9) As we meet locally we are called to love one another.  As we express this love to one another a watching world will get a glimpse of what God’s love is like.

Teaching

The call to develop mature believers in Christ means that we are entrusted to teach what the Bible teaches.  Therefore biblical doctrine will be proclaimed and taught (Titus 2:1, Col 1:28), not only from the pulpit but also through our teaching programs and family discipleship (Psalm 78:1-8).

Reaching

We are commanded to reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ (Matt 28:18-20).  As transformed believers in Jesus Christ we reach out to those outside of our local church with the goal of bringing them to joyfully confess Jesus Christ as Lord by grace through faith. Reaching out to those locally and throughout the nations.
